چکیده

In this paper, extractants are presented which made it possible to separate actinides(III) and lanthanides from strong nitric acid solutions (0.05 1 mol/L). For this purpose, new aromatic dithiophosphinic acids were synthesised and characterised, and the distribution ratios of Am(III), Eu(III) and all relevant lanthanides were determined in batch extraction experiments. The extractant used was a mixture of aromatic dithiophosphinic acid + synergist in an aromatic solvent. In particular, the influence of the synergist and solvent is described. With the aid of a 12-step flowsheet it was also possible for the first time to continuously partition actinides/lanthanides at an acid concentration of 0.5 mol/L HNO3.

ACTINIDE(III)/LANTHANIDE(III) PARTITIONING USING n-Pr-BTP AS EXTRACTANT: EXTRACTION KINETICS AND EXTRACTION TEST IN A HOLLOW FIBER MODULE

2,6-di(5,6-dipropyl-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl)pyridine (n-Pr-BTP), first developed in our laboratory, is a very promising extractant for the effective separation of actinides(III) from lanthanides(III). It is able to extract actinides(III) with usable distribution coefficient from 1-2 molar nitric acid selectively over lanthanides(III). The Am(III)/Eu(III) separation factor is approx. 135. The perform...

Separation of Americium and Curium by Chromatographic Technique Using Tertiary Pyridine Type Resin

The group separation of trivalent actinides and lanthanides and the mutual separation of americium and curium are necessary for the transmutation of americium. We have proposed the separation system based on the chromatography using the tertiary pyridine-type resin. In this separation system, the complete separation method of the trivalent actinides and lanthanides are already established using...

Gamma radiolytic stability of CyMe4BTBP and the effect of nitric acid

Within international research in partitioning and transmutation (P&T), the separation of trivalent actinides (An(III)) from the chemical similar trivalent lanthanides (Ln(III)) is a main task that was comprehensively studied within the last two decades [1–3]. The investigated solvent extraction processes often follow the plutonium uranium reduction extraction (PUREX) process, in which uranium a...

Highly efficient separation of actinides from lanthanides by a phenanthroline-derived bis-triazine ligand.

The synthesis, lanthanide complexation, and solvent extraction of actinide(III) and lanthanide(III) radiotracers from nitric acid solutions by a phenanthroline-derived quadridentate bis-triazine ligand are described. The ligand separates Am(III) and Cm(III) from the lanthanides with remarkably high efficiency, high selectivity, and fast extraction kinetics compared to its 2,2'-bipyridine counte...

EPR of Uranium. Ions

Actinides, the last known group of the Periodic Table are the subject of a special interest, both practical and scientific. Though their use is mainly based on their unique nuclear properties, the electronic structure is of no little interest because it is of paramount importance in determining the physical and chemical properties of the actinides and their compounds. Despite the common tendenc...
